Tata Steel Long Products (TSLP), formerly known as Tata Sponge Iron Limited, is in the business of manufacturing high alloy steel, and wire rope industry. With one million tonne capacity, the steel plant set up at Jamshedpur is the first steel plant in India to use Hot Metal in Electric Arc Furnace. Besides, the company also manufactures and markets sponge iron for use by the secondary steel sector and has a total capacity of 0.90 million tonnes – production units are located in Jamshedpur and Joda. The company also generates power from the latent heat generated inside its furnaces, for captive consumption.
Abhijeet Ferrotech Limited, a Group company has commissioned an 360 MVA facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This is India’s largest Ferro Alloy plant. The raw materials, ore and coke, will be imported from South Africa, Australia and South America and the finished alloys will be primarily exported in the European and South East Asian Markets. The location at the port minimizes the freight cost and make the facility highly cost competitive in the Domestic and Global markets.
